German site Fashion Doll World has some EqG doll product images. These are the sort that are sent to sites such as Toys ‘R Us and Amazon, so they’re near-final product.

There’s the two-pack of Sunset Shimmer and Twilight and a single pack of Applejack. Both have “club cards” to let you make your own club at mlpeg.com, perhaps a la Webkinz and Build-A-Bear. The site currently only holds theater info for the movie.

Two pack has two dolls with outfits, two brushes, club cards for each, “collector stickers,” accessories, Twilight’s crown and clip-on wings.

Applejack has brush, hat, stickers and card. All dolls have cutie marks on their faces, “tails” and horse ears. Below are the prototypes seen before, for comparison.

  Still no word on when these toys will be released nor official word from Hasbro about any EqG merch.

Why d’heck did someone tell us the previous picture we got were just prototypes when they hardly look different? 

Guess what people, do you know with how many doll lines this garb tries to compete? Most prominently Monster High, whom none can beat. Furthermore Ever After High, Novi Stars, LalaLoopsy, Bratz, Bratzillaz, Moxie Girlz, La Dee Da, Barbie, Steffi and all those toy lines that try to copy Monster High even more obviously than Bratzillaz does. I’d even say Blythe would be some match if Hasbro didn’t kill her by putting her in LPS while nobody wants her there and others just want their famous BJD back.

Dear Hasbro; Your JEM dolls are amazing though.

I’m scared for Equestria Girls.

From what I’ve seen, it will be learning-to-be-pastel-human-instead-of-princess-horse, Dreamy Cutebottom focus and girlfights that lack justice (by always taking the main characters’s side, no matter what she does, and portraying the ‘mean girl’ as one-dimensionally mean)
The promoting of such storylines in which women are pitted against women in a simplistic context that does not leave room for (mutual) growth is highly annoying and not devoid of misogynystic conventions either. I have hated this trope since I was little girl.

(So, all my hope for Brad being the villain like in this Bingo.) 

Additional reasons I am scared are:
1. Our “mean girl” gets treated badly.
2. Something happening to Snips and Snails (story or character wise) forcing me to not like them anymore. 
3. Distasteful jokes like Spike doing “dog” things. Yeah, umm.

I first wanted to write about these fears as I hoped for some support. But I can’t find people who are scared but not, you know, terrible and offensive at the same time.

I have certainty that whenever I read someone’s “thoughts” about EQG, it will be misogynystic and include some Faust praise bull, because that’s all I’ve seen so far. “Faust designed all these diverse interesting characters with different taste.(Read; archetypes)”
Just, what makes you think that by going to high school these characters are suddenly a hivemind? Just because Applejack wears a skirt doesn’t mean she changed anything. That’s femmephobia speaking (and memory staying silent. Grand Galloping Gala, anyone?).

Another point, these people compare EQG with Monster High in a way that mocks MH, as if MH isn’t all about different taste and interesting diverse characters. (where the majority aren’t archetypes and the majority isn’t completely ignored either, thank you very much.)

Intelligent television for girls is something of an oxymoron, because what qualifies as intelligent is what men believe it to be, and that is what they believe belongs to them. 

Like, objectively, do you honestly believe EQG to be worse than Fatboy and Chum Chum, Chowder, Fairly Odd Parents and Kick Buttowski? But nobody goes on and on about the lack of intelligence of those shows (Note: the FOP movie. I’ve avoided it, so I don’t know how that’s been received.)

I mean, Faust? That tweet she made where she turns into the hulk and afterwards complained on 4chan…does anyone seriously thinks she’s still here for the little girls? Or does she want her popularity boosted with the male following (the kind you find on 4chan) she obtained?

Because little girls, they like this. Or at least a good portion of them. I would have liked this. I liked Bratz too. I liked Bratz because they looked weird, their art was cute and they were racially diverse and nearly equal. Something you couldn’t find with Mattel’s Barbie back then. The EQG designs have the effect of offering something of a racial neutrality. It still has the racialized background of the cartoon (zebra = African, buffalo = Native American) and shadeism at play, but at least the shadeism is pure technocolour shadeism.
(I hope we get to see Cheerilee, as she has a rather dark colour)

Let’s be honest; EQG had no chance to begin with. If it does not please the bronies with some fandom-joke, they will deem it “bad”. If they do, they cater to (the) wrong people and that will be bad. (the choice to do that, that is.)
But it’ll be a one-time movie of an alternate dimension that won’t or barely will affect the pony-centered storyline. EQG does not take away from the ponies. Therefor, there is no need to panic for those who are only here for ponies.

The fan reactions, however, are extreme. And it’s not their hatred for change or difference; it’s their hatred for women. The men and male-minded who shun these designs for being “slutty” better shut up, because the (male) complaints wouldn’t be any quieter if the humanized characters were NOT conventially pretty. (Eww, she’s fat. Eww, she’s androgynous. Filth like that.) 

I will wrap up what’s being said by the fans; warning for disgusting content:
Humanly defined-women are never good enough for respect. Don’t be a “slut” by wearing make-up or clothes you like but don’t you dare to be “ugly” either. Don’t be fat but also don’t diet or be thin because then you’re a(n anorexic) slut yet again. And sluts deserve whatever comes their way, of course.

Even Friendship is Witchcraft, the abridged FiM series that I liked has also taken this opportunity to show their misogyny by making a “dieting is fun” joke. (That is of course not the only problem FiW has, but this one really hurt me because they were about the last people in the fandom with a big name/influence that had my love and following.)

What I am getting from all these reactions are that A.) Female ponies are more acceptable than female humans, and B.) Adult women are more acceptable than teenage women. And both have pretty horrible implications if you place it in a sexism-aware context..

Well it is my pleasure to announce today that Titmouse is going global and opening up it’s first international branch in Vancouver Canada!

I recently bought a tiny figurine of G3 pony Shenanigans. A simple name as that, I was wondering if Hasbro would secure it in G4. Therefor, I went to trademarkia, to see if any pony names that may give me a glimpse in what will come out in the near future.

I expected to find Minty, as she was rumoured to come out. 
However, the latest pony name trademark I could find is Frilly Frocks. And after her..Twilight Sparkle and Rarity? Really?
The others…they’re not trademarked??

But how? We discussed this so much. All the arguments we had about the official toy naming of the ponies was based on the possibility to trademark. So Lyra Heartstrings made sense. Trixie Lulamoon, Diamond DAZZLE Tiara, Twist-A-LOO, Flim SKIM…
But they don’t trademark, so what is all of this?

What was that argument where Hasbro told Faust they couldn’t use old pony names anymore?
What was this whole argument that Hasbro made up more creative names (Tra-la-la, Scootaloo) so that it is easy to trademark?
WHY ARE ALL G3 PONIES TRADEMARKED AND G4’s AREN’T aside of the main six?
(For example, look up “trademarkia hasbro Port-O-Bella”, and you find this one release G3 pony, but looking up Lily Blossom will get you nowhere.)

I don’t get this at all. It’s as if an argument we have been discussing for 2 years has been manure all along?

Here’s the whole story so far:

Russian Taobao-esque site lillu lists these dolls. Doc on Derpy Hooves News posts this image. Equestria Daily’s Sethisto then posts the image.Someone in the EqD Skype room who works on the show (no name given) says that these are prototypes (this is said in the comments).

Faust is unhappy with these dolls,but there’s a few things to point out.

First, these have wings, ears, hair so long it looks like a tail and cutie marks on their faces. This looks a lot like the NYT promotional image.The characters we’ve seen in the trailer, though, don’t have the tails, ears, cutie marks or ears: they look like humans with oddly colored skin. But the HumanTwilight looking back in the mirror in the official poster/DVD cover has all of these traits (except the cutie mark, but that might be the angle).

It’s possible that the characters gain these pony-like traits at the end of the movie, with these toys being based on the end-of-movie versions of the mane 6. It’s still very possible that these are indeed prototypes (like most things we see on Taobao and similar), too.

Here’s a high-res picture of the dolls if you want to check out the finer details. Hasbro has yet to officially market or announce dates or prices for any EqG merch.

Well, I’ve certainly seen worse but this certainly can’t compete with MH, even though they look like a bunch of Werecats. They’re so bland! Their clothing is only a skirt. And Proto Dash stole Shimmer’s hair! 

Their chins are cute though. (MH doll Rochelle Goyle didn’t have an outspoken chin like in her boxart, which saddened some fans. So more love for chins please.)
I like Pinkie’s hairband. Applejack is a bucket head. Like Prince Buckethead, the husband of Snow White who is related to apples everythingisssoclearnow!
But can I please have a BJD Horse for once? Even HORSE PEOPLE can’t move. I am forced to buy the forbidden doll!
